Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Corporate Planning Analyst to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, Corporate Planning in the Financial Services Unit, part of Pembina’s Financial Services Division. The Financial Services Unit supports the company's major decisions through an in-depth understanding of financial health in the short term and long term, credit and market risk, weighted average cost of capital, and capital markets opportunities to pursue growth (considering financing strategy, M&A opportunities, etc.). The team is responsible to understand the current state as well as the future state across a variety of scenarios, and their potential impact to external stakeholders (such as shareholders and rating agencies). The Corporate Planning Analyst will provide support to the department and the business in the areas of financial modeling, economic analysis, and corporate planning and collaborate regularly with others in the Capital Markets team and across Pembina.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Prepare and maintain detailed short-term financial forecast:
    • Work in collaboration with the business units to build Pembina’s forecast;
    • Work with the Finance team to ensure the funding plan and all near-term credit metrics are supported; and
    • Prepare in conjunction with Financial reporting, the executive and board highlights package.
  • Develop and maintain complex medium-term financial model to:
    • Support current lines of business, financial valuation of business opportunities, and to support senior management decision making; and
    • Conduct detailed corporate level financial analysis/valuation related to Pembina’s funding plan, pro forma analysis, sensitivity analysis and other corporate initiatives.
  • Prepare Board updates related to Capital Markets;
  • Work with Finance to prepare materials for rating agency updates;
  • Support the development and maintenance, in collaboration with the business units and senior management, strategy session, and budget;
  • Assist in quarterly and annual financial reporting activities;
  • Support special projects as required;

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Economics, Commerce focused on accounting or finance, or another quantitative discipline. Possess or
  • working toward advanced education (CBV, CFA, CA, MBA);
  • 2+ years’ experience in a corporate finance or accounting role;
  • Knowledge of the energy infrastructure industry. (Market structure, business strategy, regulations and policies, etc.);
  • Strong financial modeling and economic evaluation skills;
  • Advanced user of Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and
  • SAP/BPC, database and statistical program knowledge would be an asset.
