Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Senior Advisor, Contracting & Sourcing to join the team. This position reports to the Supervisor in the Supply Chain Service Unit, part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division. 

 

The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to support sourcing and contracting activities across assigned business units, service units and field operations. The Senior Advisor is responsible for ensuring that all sourcing activities are undertaken with fairness, equity and transparency and that contracts are drafted utilizing appropriate terms to create value for Pembina.

Supply Chain delivers strategic value to the organization by optimizing technology for material acquisition, inventory carrying, transportation, and planning costs.

 

Please note this is a 18 month fixed term position.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Actively support the Mechanical Construction (including civil, facilities maintenance, and turnaround agreements) strategy in alignment with the Category Work Plan;
  • Support in the development of mechanical sourcing strategies by undertaking analysis of spend data, market intelligence, and examining sourcing value levers to support appropriate sourcing initiatives;
  • Provide assistance to Business Units in relation to ongoing management of contracts, contract formation, rate analysis, reviewing contract variations and supplier exit plans for key suppliers, ensuring that the overall category plan isn’t impacted;
  • Collaborate with other teams within Supply Chain to ensure business units goals, standards, policies, and procedures are achieved;
  • Prepare and coordinate strategic proposal documentation and oversee the sourcing process;
  • Evaluate supplier responses and prepare clarifications for the supplier award process;
  • Carry out evaluations, organize consensus scoring sessions with identified business units where relevant and supplier award processes in accordance with Pembina policies;
  • Assist Category Management to maintain KPIs for supplier performance measurement;
  • Maintain and track financial and non-financial benefits by monitoring supplier performance; 
  • Regular interface with other Supply Chain teams to assist with analysis and negotiation expertise during Tactical sourcing process including, Request for Proposals and Single/Sole Sourcing process;
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, participate in relevant meetings and with Supply Chain customers (Business Units, HSE, Legal, and other organizations and suppliers);
  • Adopt a ‘one team’ culture;
  • Lead the evaluation of, and develop recommendations for, the commercial structures of high risk/high complexity contracts; 
  • Work closely with Legal, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems and Implementation teams as it pertains to contracts, providing excellent client support;
  • Draft award recommendations for approval from leadership for RFx projects;
  • Complete legal review of terms and conditions and engage Pembina Legal teams as required;
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations;
  • Prepare and maintain contracts with global/national/regional service providers per company standards;
  • Identify and address issues related to process and procedures, escalating unresolved issues as required;
  • Enter and maintain contract management systems including updating agreements in Ariba/SAP and various tracking spreadsheets; 
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace;
  • Perform other duties as required from time to time.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has a passion for the Supply Chain profession, is dedicated to providing the highest levels of customer service and can demonstrate the ability to manage through times of change and uncertainty. Additional qualifications include:  

 

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management or related field; 
  • 10+ years experience with contracting activities, preferably within the oil and gas industry;
  • Proficiency using SAP Ariba (Sourcing and Contracts modules) to aid in the issuance and administration of contracts;
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, enthusiastic and confident;
  • Possess sound judgment and excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills;  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, demanding and deadline-driven environment;
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage, negotiate and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and at all levels within an organization; 
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and proven ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines; 
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to provide contract assistance on projects of various sizes and complexity.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
