Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Category Management, the Senior Specialist, Commercial Advisor acts as the technical subject matter expert to Supply Chain for all commercial best practices in the negotiation and formation of contacts.  The Specialist works closely with all Category Management team members, as well as the Governance & Compliance and Business & Operations pillars of the Supply Chain team. The ideal candidate has a passion for the Supply Chain profession, provides the highest levels of commercial accumen.

 

Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • A trusted commercial that takes an active role in setting the tone for spending the Corporation’s money wisely by mitigating risk and ensuring cost models aligned to current markets; 
  • Provide analytic feedback pertaining to industry and market trends spending and contracting, feeding into category playbooks;  
  • Develop and maintain strong, independent working relationships with all stakeholders;
  • Formation of commercial standards, negotiation frameworks, and commercial  governance structure; 
  • Identify  key performance indicators to support supplier relationship management programs;
  • Translating of category segmentation into proper commercial strategies; 
  • Reviewing of existing top tier contracts and assessing areas of opportunity for improvement;
  • Provide informal leadership across the supply chain organization and continually mentor on commercial rigor; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

 

Qualifications

  • Designated SCMP or other professional (CPA, engineer, lawyer) with at least 10 years of Supply Chain and/or related experience; 
  • A deep and experienced understanding of commercial acumen – inclusive of understanding the demand of the business, market intelligence, benchmark analysis of supplier landscapes, supplier performance, formation and or mentorship of negotiation strategies;
  • Mindset of thinking globally and applying this locally;
  • Clear knowledge and understanding on interdependencies and relationship between strategic and transactional supply chain across functional processes;
  • Strong Supply Chain industry and best practice knowledge with an interest in increasing understanding of Pembina’s business; 
  • Understanding of SAP S/4 including Ariba and Fieldglass and SAP Analytics Cloud;
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and a quick learner who is self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines in a continuously changing environment;
  • Effective communication and organization skills complemented by a strong work ethic; and
  • Demonstrates a passion for creating positive change and process improvement.
