Overview:
Where growth happens, opportunity follows. Pembina’s Business Development & New Ventures (BDNV) team is actively hiring an Analyst in the BDNV Analytics team to support the company’s next phase of growth. Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Management & Analytics, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to enterprise‑level growth initiatives and strategic investment decisions.
This role is designed for a high‑performing individual with a deep understanding of financial concepts, business drivers, and complex financial models. The Analyst will support the financial and economic assessment of BDNV projects, lead research efforts, and deliver high‑impact analysis that informs senior leadership decision‑making, including acquisitions and divestiture activity.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Support BDNV across the full opportunity lifecycle, from ideation and evaluation (quantitative and qualitative) through development and execution of business opportunities;
- Coordinate projects through the early stages of ideation and evaluation in alignment with established Project Development and Governance Lifecycle frameworks;
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models and valuation analyses, applying modeling best practices, corporate economic standards, valuation methodologies, financing structures, and relevant accounting and tax considerations;
- Support and coordinate due diligence activities related to mergers and acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships;
- Conduct market research and data analysis to deepen understanding of new industries, markets, businesses, products, technologies, and other areas under BDNV review;
- Prepare economic and business cases and develop clear, decision‑ready investment materials and presentations for internal and external stakeholders;
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, peer activity, emerging risks, and growth opportunities impacting Pembina and the broader energy landscape;
- Build strong, collaborative working relationships across Pembina and with external industry partners;
- Support BDNV strategy development, budgeting, planning, and portfolio management activities.
- Perform financial post‑investment reviews and look‑back analyses on business initiatives, including project developments, pipeline and facility expansions, and acquisition and divestiture activity;
- Analyze business and industry metrics, assess key market and customer drivers, and deliver ad‑hoc analysis to support strategic decision‑making;
- Demonstrate a visible commitment and personal accountability to Pembina’s safety culture; and
- Contribute to a workplace culture that values inclusion, diversity, and collaboration.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or MBA, or progress toward a professional designation (e.g., CFA), is considered an asset;
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, engineering, economics, or a related analytical discipline, with 3+ years of experience in a similar or related role;
- Demonstrated understanding of the hydrocarbon value chain and associated commercial and economic drivers;
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a high attention to detail and the ability to efficiently gather, analyze, and synthesize data into clear, actionable insights that support sound recommendations;
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with proven experience building financial models and delivering rigorous economic analysis;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization;
- Experience with carbon credit programs and energy infrastructure tax incentives is considered an asset but is not required;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic, fast‑paced, team‑based environment; and
- Highly self‑directed, proactive, and positive team player with strong learning agility, able to quickly adapt to new concepts, industries, technologies, and evolving business priorities.
Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Fridays.
