Overview:

Cochin Pipeline, a subsidiary of Pembina U.S. Corporation, is actively hiring an Operations Technician in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, the Technician supports the safe and reliable transportation of products on the Cochin Pipeline through inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.

 

The Cochin Pipeline is a strategically important condensate transportation system extending from Illinois to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. As part of Pembina’s Transmission & Extraction Operation Division, the asset is focused on delivering safe, reliable, and efficient operations while supporting customers through industry-leading pipeline infrastructure and a strong commitment to operational integrity and environmental stewardship.

 

The Transmission & Extraction Operations assets are responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant transportation and extraction of hydrocarbons across Pembina’s integrated pipeline and facilities network. The asset delivers critical connectivity between upstream supply and downstream markets while maintaining a strong focus on asset integrity, operational discipline, and regulatory excellence.

 

This position is based in Albert Lea, MN, with an anticipated pay range of $35.00 to $40.00 per hour. Final compensation will be based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data;
  • Will work as part of a team with primary role as a technician, assisting in pump station and meter station operations, and other trades when and where needed;
  • Routine pipeline operations and maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting failures, repair of pump/meter station mechanical equipment, electrical troubleshooting and repair, and various tasks and projects;
  • Locating and marking Cochin facilities per Pembina's Damage Prevention Program and One­ Call procedures prior to and during excavation;
  • Ensure all maintenance and operations duties are completed safely, in compliance with Pembina's procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices;
  • Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with company procedures of excavation activities near pipeline facilities;
  • Participate in a 7-day on-call rotation responding as required to equipment and/or operational problems;
  • Occasional overnight travel will be required;
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime on an as needed basis;
  • Maintain safe and reliable operations of the facilities;
  • Able to work in teams effectively and encourage a positive work environment;
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fire resistant clothing, heeled safety-toe boots, and hearing protection);
  • Communicates safety issues to Managers and Safety Department;
  • Effective decision-making skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;
  • A willingness and desire to work outdoors;
  • Any other duties assigned by Supervisor; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ work experience, with in the energy industry preferred;
  • Hands-on experience with various computer applications;
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work under limited supervision;
  • Ability to work well in a team coupled with a proven track record of success of positively interfacing with Field, Engineering, and Technical Support personnel;
  • Ability to perform and direct safe and efficient operations in a fast-paced environment;
  • Results oriented with a flexible & adaptable approach to change; and
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Must live within 60 miles of Albert Lea, MN. 

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate may be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check, Drug Screen (which includes testing for marijuana metabolites), and Fit for Duty Exam.
