Overview:
Pembina US Corporation’s Alliance Pipeline team is actively hiring an Operations Technician. Reporting to the Supervisor, Alliance Pipeline US North Operations, this role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a cross-border natural gas system that connects key supply basins to the Chicago market hub.
The Operations Technician will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining pipeline and facility operations, responding to operational issues, and ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements. Working closely with field and control centre teams, the role plays a critical part in optimizing system performance and supporting the delivery of natural gas to customers under long-term, fee-for-service arrangements.
Pembina has expanded its asset base through the acquisition of key natural gas and refined product infrastructure, providing customers with access to high‑value markets under long‑term, fee‑for‑service contracts. The Alliance Pipeline part of the Transmission & Extraction Operations assets is a 3,848‑kilometre (2,391‑mile) integrated system connecting Canada and the U.S., transporting rich natural gas from the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and Williston Basin to the Chicago hub.
The Transmission & Extraction Operations assets are responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant transportation and extraction of hydrocarbons across Pembina’s integrated pipeline and facilities network. The asset delivers critical connectivity between upstream supply and downstream markets while maintaining a strong focus on asset integrity, operational discipline, and regulatory excellence.
This position is located in Albert Lea MN.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by integrating physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all activities, maintaining personal accountability for compliance, audit readiness, risk identification, and the protection of people, assets, and information;
- Execute field operations as part of a multi-discipline team, supporting compressor and meter station activities and collaborating with other trades as required;
- Perform routine pipeline and facility operations and maintenance, including equipment inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems;
- Conduct facility locating and marking in accordance with Pembina’s Damage Prevention Program and One Call requirements to ensure safe excavation practices;
- Ensure all operational and maintenance activities meet internal procedures, regulatory obligations, and industry standards;
- Provide on-site oversight of third-party excavation and work activities to protect assets and ensure procedural compliance;
- Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, responding to operational upsets, equipment failures, and emergency situations;
- Support safe, reliable, and continuous operation of pipeline and facility systems;
- Work collaboratively to promote a positive, safety-focused team environment;
- Consistently utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with site-specific safety requirements;
- Communicate hazards, incidents, and safety concerns promptly to supervision and safety personnel;
- Apply sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to technical and operational challenges;
- Perform work in outdoor environments across varying conditions;
- Complete additional duties as assigned in support of operational objectives; and
- Contribute to and uphold an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, or Mechatronics;
- Relevant operational experience in a pipeline or processing plant environment is preferred;
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications and operating systems;
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly prioritize work and manage multiple tasks effectively;
- Committed to working safely, with a strong safety mindset aligned to operational excellence;
- Learning agility with a willingness to continuously develop skills, adapt to change, and apply new knowledge in a dynamic environment;
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining accountability for results;
- Collaborative team player with a positive attitude, able to build strong working relationships and engage effectively across functions;
- Capable of supporting and directing safe, efficient operations with sound judgment and adaptability; and
- Valid driver’s license required.

Must live within 60 miles of the asset.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate may be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check, Drug Screen (which includes testing for marijuana metabolites), and Fit for Duty Exam.
