Overview:

Pembina Pipeline is recruiting a Sr. Advisor, Corporate Contracting & Sourcing, Telecommunications and Network Services and IT Infrastructure to join Supply Chain Management. Based in our Calgary corporate office and reporting to the Manager, Corporate Contracting & Sourcing, the Sr. Advisor will provide dedicated support to the Information Services Unit.

 

On a day-to-day basis, the Sr Advisor works closely with all Corporate Contracting & Sourcing team members, as well as the Governance & Compliance and Business & Operations pillars of the Supply Chain team.

Pembina's integrated assets and commercial operations along the majority of the hydrocarbon value chain allow it to offer a full spectrum of midstream and marketing services to the energy sector. Pembina is committed to identifying additional opportunities to connect hydrocarbon production to new demand locations through the development of infrastructure that would extend Pembina's service offering even further along the hydrocarbon value chain. These new developments will contribute to ensuring that hydrocarbons produced in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and the other basins where Pembina operates can reach the highest value markets throughout the world.

 

This position will be supporting the Supply Chain Business Unit. Supply Chain at Pembina is guided by Pembina's values and collaborates across the Organization ensuring that all supply chain activities are executed with the highest standards of ethics and integrity and are in strict adherence to Pembina’s policies. Supply Chain delivers strategic value to the organization by optimizing technology for material acquisition, inventory carrying, transportation, and planning costs.

Pembina is structured into three business Divisions: Pipelines Division, Facilities Division and Marketing & New Ventures Division and three Service Divisions: Financial Services (including Supply Chain), External Services and Corporate Services.   

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

 

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to assess service level agreement, maintenance and support agreements requirements;
  • Support business and operations planning sessions to inform category strategies for software and digital projects;
  • Maintain strong internal relationships with key stakeholders, support key program initiatives;
  • Identify and mitigate risks in software and subscription agreements via negotiations;
  • Assess requirements to enable category strategy development;
  • In consultation with the Governance team, perform spend analysis (gathering, cleansing and analyzing data) to identify and prioritize opportunities;
  • Document category and sourcing strategies and draft charters;
  • Evaluate incumbent supplier performance, perform targeted market intelligence research, evaluate potential supplier alternatives, and manage communications with suppliers;
  • Analyze YTD supplier spend and compare against forecasted spend to determine potential change impacts;
  • Execute category analysis, benchmarking and assess category performance;
  • Assessment of operational risk and ensuring the appropriate contracting and commercial strategies;
  • Working with stakeholders for scoping of professional services for system integrator requirements;
  • Develop total cost of ownership models and conduct cost modeling comparison;
  • Determine efficient sourcing strategies and channels, with a lens on IT Infrastructure and Telecommunications and Network Services;
  • Support sourcing, contract review and execution activities;
  • Develop and manage master agreements and support contracting activities performed by other Supply Chain teams;
  • Support implementation of multi-year contracts that include commercial benefits and key performance criteria with strategic suppliers;
  • Provide support and review deliverables from critical contracting, process oversight and management and sourcing activities;
  • Develop, maintain and support supplier lifecycle performance processes;
  • Support administrative requirements for Categories, including updating project plans, scheduling stakeholder meetings, progress reporting, etc.;
  • Support development of other Categories;

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain and commercial focus;
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management or related field Professional supply chain designation considered an asset;
  • Experience in Telecommunication and Network services agreement, along with IT hardware and infrastructure agreements, service level agreements, maintenance and support agreements;
  • Good understanding of Supply Chain principles – knowledge and understanding of interdependencies and relationship between strategic and transactional supply chain across functional processes;
  • Strong commercial knowledge of software and digital projects;
  • Knowledgeable of best practices for contracting as it relates to waterfall vs. agile project methodology;
  • Experience leading cross function teams;
  • Proficient in being a trusted advisor and mentor to stakeholders and peers within supply chain;
  • Understanding of SAP S/4 including Ariba and SAP Analytics Cloud would be beneficial;
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and a quick learner who is self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines in a continuously changing environment;
  • Effective communication and organization skills complemented by a strong work ethic;
  • Experienced understanding of Corporate Contracting & Sourcing – inclusive of understanding the demand of the business, market trends, supplier landscape, supplier performance, would be beneficial;
  • Mindset of thinking globally and applying this locally;
  • Understand the principles of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and application of appropriate lever at category and sub-category level;
  • Adept at building long-term and mutually beneficial strong partnerships with internal stakeholders suppliers; and 
  • Passion for positive change and process improvement.
